A Northern Italy city, Venice is often called one of the most beautiful in the world and quite rightly so. The timing of your visit to Venice depends on whether you are looking to avoid crowds or not. May to September is usually the busiest time in Venice because of events like the Venice International Film Festival, and since spring and autumn are known for their copious rain showers and thunderstorms, packing a pair of waterproof boots or shoes is probably a good idea.
The capital of Italy, Rome is also the largest and most populous city in the country. The best time to travel to Rome is in the spring in order to enjoy the warm weather. Since rain is possible any time of year it is always a good idea to keep and umbrella on hand. Summers are hot in Rome, usually above 95° F during midday. For this reason, many Romans close up their business during August and take vacations in cooler climates. Winters are mild with an average temperature around 55°F in December.
Known the world over as the City of Love, Paris is the capital and largest city in France. Though it lies in the Ile de France region, which has the lowest rainfall in France, Paris is subject to unexpected rain showers at anytime during the year so it is a good idea to keep an umbrella handy. Summer weather is mild and warm making it the ideal time of year to visit Paris. Winters are quite cold and much of the time the temperature hovers around freezing.
Year round gorgeous sunshine and fabulous weather make Madrid a veritable tourist hot spot anytime of the year. Rain is a rarity in Madrid usually only occurring during late October with a few showers during spring. The high altitude of Madrid may take a little time to get adjusted to and because of t its location in the mountains Madrid is subject to large fluctuations in temperature from winter to summer. Temperatures during the winter can occasionally drop below freezing while summer days are usually quite hot about midday but usually taper off to pleasantly cool evenings.
The climate in Helsinki, Finland is somewhere in between maritime and continental. Winters began in November and the city is covered in snow with temperatures well below freezing and almost no real daylight. Spring comes late arriving around April but bringing warmer temperatures. Summers have temperatures that range between 59°F during early spring to 86°F in the hottest month, July. Summer is an excellent time to visit Helsinki because of the warm weather as well as the almost 19 hours of daylight.
